RTD North Metro Rail Line

The Regional Transit District (RTD) North Metro Rail Line consists of 18.5 miles of electric commuter rail line from Denver Union Station and running through four municipalities north of Denver. Iron Horse served as Stations Design Lead for six of the stations, and architect of record for four stations while providing architectural oversight of the other two stations. In this role, Iron Horse was the primary point of contact and collaborator with the municipalities and community. Scope of work included coordination of entitlement, signage, and wayfinding. Solutions for long term operations and maintenance were developed for each station canopy and included:

  1. Implementing a robust coating system on the structure

  2. Concealing conduit / junction boxes to allow access for maintenance / future modification

  3. Modular design allowing easy maintenance of guard rails & glazing panels
